Introduced by Rep. Aldo Vagnozzi (D) on February 1, 2007, to require the Public Service Commission to create a “do not mail” list that commercial mailers would be required to obtain and honor. Citizens who do not wish to receive product or service solicitations through the mail could register to be on the list, and mailers would be prohibited from sending to them. Mailers would have to pay for access to the list. There would be exceptions for charities, existing customer relationships, etc. The bill also imposes content regulations and prohibitions on commercial mail solicitations. Violations by a mailer would be subject to a $500 fine and up to six months in jail .
Referred to the House Commerce Committee on February 1, 2007.

3) That right raise postage to a dollar [by Anonymous Citizen on June 27, 2007] So lets stop the junk mail, do you realize how much postage would have to go up to compensate. Plus direct marketing is the most effective marketing out there right now, almost sounds like they are against free speech, after all you can look through your mail at your own convenience unlike a telephone call.
