Introduced by Rep. Bettie Scott (D) on April 25, 2007, to reduce the level of some of the “driver responsibility fees” or “bad driver fees” tacked on to various traffic violations and paid to the state, which were imposed as a revenue-raising measure in 2003. Some of the fees would be unchanged, some reduced from $2,000 to $1,500, and some cut in half.
Referred to the House Transportation Committee on April 25, 2007.
Reported in the House on June 12, 2008, with the recommendation that the substitute (H-5) be adopted and that the bill then pass.
