Fred Miller (D) on August 20, 2008, to require the state to hold a public hearing if requested by “any person” when a nursing home proposes to be sold or transferred to another owner. This and related bills were introduced after the Carlyle Group company's acquisition of 28 Michigan nursing homes previously owned by Manor Care Inc., which has been opposed by the Service Employees International Union.
