Introduced by Sen. Gerald Van Woerkom (R) on June 19, 2008, to authorize “community dental health coordinators” employed by a federally qualified health center, the Indian health service, or a state or county health clinic in a “dentally underserved area” to perform tasks similar to those done by dental hygienists or dental assistants, without obtaining the license required for those professions, if performed under the supervision of a dentist.
