2011 House Bill 4645

Revise teacher certification details

Introduced in the House

May 17, 2011

Introduced by Rep. Bob Genetski (R-88)

To revise details of the current system of prohibiting a person to teach in a Michigan elementary school without a government-issued teaching certificate. The bill would replace a system of “provisional” and “professional” certificates with a single teaching certificate with the same educational requirements as the “provisional” certificate. The bill would also repeal licensure provisions in a 2006 law that required all teachers to complete a three-credit course on reading disabilities.
