Introduced by Rep. John Walsh (R) on June 22, 2011, to repeal a provision that requires the Wayne County Intermediate School District (called the “Wayne Regional Education Service Agency”) to hold a regional property tax millage increase only on the same day as statewide primary or general elections. Instead, the Wayne RESA could seek a property tax of up to three mills at the “next regular school election” of the constituent districts, or in some cases, it could schedule a special election. These provisions are what currently apply to other ISDs.
Referred to the House Redistricting and Elections Committee on June 22, 2011.
Reported in the House on June 12, 2012, without amendment and with the recommendation that the bill pass.
Referred to the Senate Local Government & Elections Committee on November 29, 2012.
