2011 Senate Bill 866

Revise local tax increase election timetable

Introduced in the Senate

Dec. 6, 2011

Introduced by Sen. David Robertson (R-26)

To change the time between when a municipal transit authority votes to impose a new property tax, and the first date on which the popular election required for such local tax hikes may be held. Under current law, there must be 60 days until the election. The bill would change the earliest election date to “the 12th Tuesday” after the board vote.
