2012 House Bill 6061

Limit recall votes to regular May and November election dates

Introduced in the House

Nov. 28, 2012

Introduced by Rep. Jon Switalski (D-25)

To limit recall elections to the May and November regular election dates. See also House Bill 6059, which replaces the current recall election process to one with a single vote on recalling and replacing an officeholder.

Referred to the Committee on Redistricting and Elections

Dec. 4, 2012

Reported without amendment

Without amendment and with the recommendation that the bill pass.

Amendment offered by Rep. Barb Byrum (D-67)

To move the effective date of the bill back until Jan. 1, 2015. Note: There is speculation that the House Republican leadership has placed the recall revisions in House Bills 6058 to 6063 on a "fast track" due to union recall threats related to state "right-to-work" legislation. These bills are perceived as making recalls harder.

The amendment failed by voice vote
