2018 House Bill 5831: Earmark road tax money to rail overpass projects

To earmark $13 million annually to the separate state account proposed by House Bill 5832 that would pay for rail overpass projects. Reportedly this is motivated in part pressure to do a particular project in Wyandotte. This money is currently earmarked to a state Transportation Economic Development Fund, which provides indirect subsidies for developers and business in which the state pays for access improvements related to particular investors’ and developers’ businesses and projects.   Official Text and Analysis.
