2018 House Bill 5831

Earmark road tax money to rail overpass projects

Introduced in the House

April 18, 2018

Introduced by Rep. Darrin Camilleri (D-23)

To earmark $13 million annually to the separate state account proposed by House Bill 5832 that would pay for rail overpass projects. Reportedly this is motivated in part pressure to do a particular project in Wyandotte. This money is currently earmarked to a state Transportation Economic Development Fund, which provides indirect subsidies for developers and business in which the state pays for access improvements related to particular investors’ and developers’ businesses and projects.
