- Introduced by Sen. Bruce Caswell (R) on September 11, 2012, to prohibit Michigan from expanding Medicaid eligibility to include all residents up to 133 percent of the federal poverty level, including single individuals without children. The federal “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act,” a.k.a. Obamacare, originally mandated the expansion, but a U.S. Supreme Court ruling made it optional. Medicaid is a medical welfare program funded by a mix of tax dollars raised by the federal and state governments, and originally targeted primarily at low income families with children.

FIRST, IF ONE CAN'T NOT AFFORD THIS INSURANCE SINGLE OR FAMILY STYLE IT WILL BE GIVEN TO THEM FREE.ESPECIALLY, IF ONE IS IN THE LOWER INCOME LEVEL. CALL YOUR SENATE OR HOUSE (FEDERAL) REPRESENTATIVE AND HAVE HIM OR HER EXPLAIN THIS TO YOU, SINCE IT'S OBVIOUS YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS HEALTH CARE(NOT OBAMACARE). YOU CAN FIND THESE PERSONS BY USING YOUR COMPUTER.
PLEASE DO THAT SO YOU CAN STOP WORRYING HOW YOU ARE TO PAY FOR THIS INSURANCE.aFTER ALL IT'S GOVERNMENT REUGULATED THAT WE MUST HAVE NO FAULT INSURANCE. IF YOU DON'T AND DRIVE YOU WILL BE PENALIZED ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.THINK ABOUT THAT.
I hope everyone knows that 133% of the federal poverty level is only $14,856 a year (before taxes) for a single person, or $20,123 for a married couple. They think in Michigan one can find housing, pay utilities, find food, clothing, and transportation on $286 a week and have enough left to pay for quality health care? These selfish, greedy part-time legislators want lifetime healthcare paid in full but refuse to help those that are doing the best they can in this lousy economy? Shameful, just plain shameful.
Mr. Caswell,I think sits around and come up with these lame brain bills to introduce so he can say if it's passed;"I got this many biils passed? When it'stime for reelection.But, I have noted that it's always at the expense of the poor.This guy needs to go.I have worked for over 30 years and I DO NOT BEGRUDGE ANYONE FOR USING MY TAX DOLLAR TO HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE, WITHOUT OR WITHOUT A CHILD.I HAVE MINE BECAUSE i DID WORK, BUT THERE ARE OTHERS WHO CAN'T EVEN GET A JOB TO GET INSURANCE.bUT, REMEMBER HIS IS ALL PAID FOR BY THE TAX PAYER FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE.COME-ON ALL WE NEED TO TAKE A LOOK AT HOW THEY GET ALL THE FREE PERKS FOR WHAT 6 TO 8 YRS. OF WORK. WHAT A SCAM ON THE TAYPEYERS.
