

2010 Senate Bill 1515: Increase hotel and motel tax (Senate Roll Call 524)
Passed 31 to 7 in the Senate on November 10, 2010, to increase from 2 percent to 5 percent the amount of room tax that can be imposed on hotels and motels by any local convention and tourism marketing bureau. (Certain bureaus are already allowed to levy a 4 percent tax.) Also, to authorize procedures and sanctions for a bureau that fails to provide audited financial statements.

I agree. A tax is a tax. It's beginingg to look like the Republicans aren't against higher taxes but just talking so we hear what they think we want to hear.
