2012 Senate Bill 981: Authorize autism-mandate insurance company subsidies (House Roll Call 161)
Passed 84 to 26 in the House on March 29, 2012, to authorize state subsidies to health insurance companies to compensate for the new coverage mandate proposed by Senate Bills 414 and 415, which would require them to include autism coverage in all their policies. The bill does not specify a funding source, which means any subsidies would come out of annual appropriations passed by the legislature.

This act is fantastic. It will allow folks with average income to be able to afford special care for their "special" children.
Charities help somewhat but nowhere near what the costs are. This is one good thing that Gov. Snyder has done.

How easy it is for the state to be charitable with other people's money. There's no nobility at helping some while dispossessing others. There are charities, good people in communities and churches that are willing to help voluntarily. It's done all the time.
