2012 House Bill 5414: Establish more “dark sky preserves” (House Roll Call 188)
Passed 80 to 28 in the House on April 24, 2012, to designate Wilderness State Park, a portion of Port Crescent State Park in Huron County, and state forestland within Bliss Township, Cross Village Township, and Wawatam in Emmet County as “dark sky preserves.” The term is not defined in statute, but in general it means restricting outdoor lighting to a minimum.

Seems very unfair to have a yes AND a no vote required in ONE bill.
Voting to "preserve dark sky" in the Lower Peninsula is fine.
HOWEVER, in the SAME bill "preserve dark sky' WAS DENIED TO THE UPPER PENINSULA!!! WHY?? HOW HATEFUL CAN OUR
LANSING LEGISLATORS BE?? No wonder there are 'secede from the Union' sparks in the Upper Peninsula
THIS IS OUR INGLORIOUS 'SENATE' AT WORK IN MICHIGAN.. WHO PAYS THESE LEGISLATORS TO DISDAIN THE UPPER
PENINSULA?.
