2012 House Bill 5414: Establish more “dark sky preserves” (Senate Roll Call 527)

Passed 26 to 10 in the Senate on June 14, 2012, to designate Wilderness State Park, a portion of Port Crescent State Park in Huron County, and state forestland within Bliss Township, Cross Village Township, and Wawatam in Emmet County as “dark sky preserves.” Also, to prohibit establishing a dark sky preserve in the Upper Peninsula, and prohibit restrictions on motorized and nonmotorized recreational use based on the designation.

Seems very unfair to have a yes AND a no vote required in ONE bill.

Voting to "preserve dark sky" in the Lower Peninsula is fine.

HOWEVER, in the SAME bill "preserve dark sky' WAS DENIED TO THE UPPER PENINSULA!!! WHY?? HOW HATEFUL CAN OUR

LANSING LEGISLATORS BE?? No wonder there are 'secede from the Union' sparks in the Upper Peninsula

THIS IS OUR INGLORIOUS 'SENATE' AT WORK IN MICHIGAN.. WHO PAYS THESE LEGISLATORS TO DISDAIN THE UPPER

PENINSULA?.
