2012 House Bill 6024: Authorize “essential services” tax on industrial plants (House Roll Call 696)
Passed 57 to 52 in the House on December 6, 2012, to give local governments the power to impose targeted property taxes on industrial and commercial property deemed by the bill to be “especially benefited” by fire, police and ambulance services. This would replace some of the revenue from proposed reductions in the property tax imposed on business tools and equipment ("personal property tax"); see Senate Bills 1065 to 1071.

Oh, I see. We can count on Republicans to authorize an anti-business tax? You either want the property tax base, jobs, and benefits of additional employment or you don't. What is it? Start this slippery slope and you won't be able to believe what precedent this will set for state and federal liberals.
