2005 House Bill 4911

FY 2006 Executive Budget “Revenue Enhancements”

Introduced in the House

June 9, 2005

Introduced by Rep. Paula Zelenko (D-50)

To repeal a use tax exemption on the purchase or lease of motion pictures, so that cinema companies would pay the tax on movies shown in theaters. This is one of $200 million in “revenue enhancement” or “tax expenditure” proposals included in Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s Fiscal Year 2005-2006 budget recommendation. Together with House Bill 4908 it would increase the taxes paid by theaters approximately $20 million.
