2009 House Bill 4604

End some “bad driver tax” offenses and authorize amnesty

Introduced in the House

March 17, 2009

Introduced by Rep. Eileen Kowall (R-44)

To waive any penalties for a person liable for payments under the ”driver responsibility fees law, if the individual pays 75 percent of the tax amount during a 60 day amnesty period. The bill would also allow a driver to pay a two year charge in one year, and end most of these assessments after 2010. This tax was adopted in 2003 to raise revenue so as avoid spending cuts in that year’s and subsequent state government budgets.
