2017 Senate Bill 107 / Public Act 169

Revise rental housing inspection regulation

Introduced in the Senate

Feb. 7, 2017

Introduced by Sen. Rick Jones (R-24)

To revise rental housing inspection intervals, tenant permission details and more. Among other things the bill would allow six years rather than the current four year period between multi-unit apartment inspections that are required if the last inspection found no problems; and would reinforce provisions of the law requiring tenant permission for inspectors to enter.

Referred to the Committee on Local Government

Reported without amendment

With the recommendation that the substitute (S-5) be adopted and that the bill then pass.
