2018 Senate Bill 1098

Revise public school pupil count detail

Introduced in the Senate

Sept. 5, 2018

Introduced by Sen. Rick Jones (R-24)

To revise a law that defines how students attending a public school are counted for purposes of determining state support for a school. Under current law, starting in 2018-2019, if a school collects “tuition for a pupil that resided out of state in the immediately preceding school year, the pupil shall not be counted in membership in the district” for purposes of calculating the amount of state school aid it gets. The bill would make this not apply until the 2019-20 school year.
