2018 Senate Bill 949

Revise county clerk electioneering restrictions

Introduced in the Senate

April 17, 2018

Introduced by Sen. Jim Marleau (R-12)

To repeal a restriction on elected or appointed officials placing their name and title on election-related material that is sent to a voter. The bill would allow this if the font and color with the official’s name and title don’t stand out and there is no photo of the official. The current ban was established in a 2012 law passed in response to concerns that some county clerks were using taxpayer-funded documents as a form of campaigning for reelection.
