2020 Senate Bill 896

Add “industry emergency management representatives” to emergency reviewers

Introduced in the Senate

April 28, 2020

Introduced by Sen. Jim Runestad (R-15)

To revise one of the two laws that authorize a governor to assume extraordinary powers during a declared emergency. The law currently requires the State Police and other relevant officials to maintain a comprehensive emergency management plan, and the bill would add a provision requiring it to include “industry emergency management representatives” appointed to review and advise on the plan. The bill would also require annual reports to the legislature on the status of state emergency plans, equipment and supply stockpiles, recent actions, industry recommendations, and more.
