To allow school districts to make “priority referrals” to community mental health facilities when they believe a minor is an imminent danger to him/her self or others. (Presently, community mental health facilities are directed to prioritize the severity of the needs for their various patients, and are directed to give “priority” service to those with the greatest emotional, mental and developmental disabilities). The mental health facility, in coordination with the minor’s guardians and the school, would then evaluate the necessary treatment plan, and all parties could petition the courts to resolve disagreements.
