2001 House Bill 4562 / Public Act 163

Introduced in the House

April 17, 2001

Introduced by Rep. Lauren Hager (R-81)

To require all college students who live in on-campus housing to be vaccinated for meningitis.

Referred to the Committee on Health Policy

June 14, 2001

Substitute offered

Which reflects changes adopted following committee testimony and discussion. As introduced, the bill would have required all college students who live in on-campus housing to be vaccinated for meningitis. The substitute replaces the student mandate with a requirement that the state Department of Community Health encourage high-schools and colleges to provide students with information to be developed by the department on the risks of meningitis, and on the availability, effectiveness, and potential risks of immunization for the disease.
