Introduced in the Senate

Feb. 6, 2001

Introduced by Sen. David Jaye (R-12)

To prohibit local government "living wage" ordinances which are different from the state minimum wage act. “Living wage” ordinances passed by cities prohibit employers who do business with the city, or in some cases all employers located in the city, from paying employees less than an amount set by the city council. These amounts range from $8 to $12 or more, with or without benefits.
