To authorize a court to mandate mental health outpatient treatments called "assisted outpatient treatment" or "AOT," to be provided by community mental health services programs, for mentally ill adults who are deemed unlikely to survive safely in the community without supervision, have a history of non-compliance with mental health treatments, are unlikely to voluntarily submit to treatment, are incapable of making informed medical decisions, and are likely to benefit from treatment or deteriorate without it.
