2003 House Bill 4161

Exempt schools from “prevailing wage” mandate

Introduced in the House

Feb. 5, 2003

Introduced by Rep. Fulton Sheen (R-88)

To exempt school construction projects from the state “prevailing wage” law, which prohibits awarding contracts to contractors who submit the lowest bid unless the contractor pays "prevailing wages," which are based on union pay scales in a particular part of a geographic region. These wage rates may be above the market rate in other parts of the region. The bill amends the prevailing wage act. See also House Bill 4162.
