To require that the MEAP social studies assessment test results be used in qualifying for state merit award scholarships. Note: The social studies test was not included when the scholarship was created due to the fact that many legislators considered it to be too “politically correct.” As introduced, House Bill 5881 in the 2001-2002 legislative session would have replaced the social studies assessment test with a civics test, including American and Michigan history and government.
