To allow a person between age 16 and 65 who would otherwise be eligible for Medicaid except for earning more than the maximum allowed, or a person with a “medically improved disability,” to receive Medicaid health benefits even if they have a job which pushes their income over the maximum amount allowable under Medicaid, subject to the payment of premiums on a sliding scale, up to a maximum income of 2.5 times the poverty rate, or in some circumstances as high as $75,000.
