2003 House Bill 4467

Introduced in the House

March 26, 2003

Introduced by Rep. Chris Ward (R-66)

To allow a city, village, or township to cancel an uncontested regular or special election if there are no ballot questions other than the candidate election, and the deadline for filing a declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate has passed. If the number of candidates filing indicate that the election is uncontested, then the deadline for a person to declare their intent to be a write-in candidate would be advanced from 4:00 p.m. on the Friday immediately before the election to 4:00 p.m. on the 21st day before the election. If an election is canceled, candidates on the ballot would be considered elected for all purposes under the law, just as if the election had occurred.

Referred to the Committee on Local Government and Urban Policy

Reported without amendment

With the recommendation that the substitute (H-1) be adopted and that the bill then pass.
