To establish a “children's trustee for child support” office in the Department of Treasury, which would be responsible for ensuring that child support payments from non-custodial parents are delivered to the custodial parent. Under current law these payments are funneled through the state. In recent years almost $1 million annually in child support payments collected by the state have been deposited into the general fund because the state was unable to locate the custodial parent.
