2003 House Bill 4638

Introduced in the House

May 6, 2003

Introduced by Rep. John Gleason (D-48)

To require a petition for the recall of an elected official to contain “factual" information on why the recall is requested, prohibit recalls except for issues that cannot be overturned by board action or through other political means, and to require each signer to sign his or her full name as it appears in his or her application to register to vote. The bill would also prohibit recall petitions against elected officials whose term is greater than two years during the first and last year of office. Under current law, recalls are prohibited during the first and last six months for officials with a term of two years or less. This would not be changed.

Referred to the Committee on Local Government and Urban Policy
