2003 House Bill 5108

Introduced in the House

Oct. 1, 2003

Introduced by Rep. Ruth Johnson (R-46)

To require an employee or administrator of an intermediate school district (ISD) to report any personal conflict of interest to the district’s board, and to report if he or she has reason to believe that another officer or employee has a conflict of interest. The board would then be required to hold a vote in public to decide if there is a conflict of interest, and take any action that may be required by law or appropriate. This bill was introduced following investigations and revelations of possible corruption and misuse of tax dollars at the Oakland Intermediate School District. It is one of a number of bills which have been introduced to reform ISDs.
