To raise the penalties for “whistleblower protection” violators, and apply the protection to certain employees of private companies or agencies with state contacts. Currently, the law makes it a crime to fire, threaten, or otherwise discriminate regarding the compensation, terms, conditions, location, or privileges of government employees who report, or are about to report, violations of laws, regulations, or rules.
