2003 Senate Bill 6

Introduced in the Senate

Jan. 8, 2003

Introduced by Sen. Beverly Hammerstrom (R-17)

To require pharmacists to include on prescription drug receipts both the full retail price and the co-pay, if any, paid by the purchaser.

Referred to the Committee on Health Policy

March 4, 2003

Reported without amendment

With the recommendation that the substitute (S-2) be adopted and that the bill then pass.

March 12, 2003

Substitute offered

To replace the previous version of the bill with one recommended by the committee which reported it. The substitute incorporates technical changes which do not affect the substance of the bill as previously described. It was amended to specify that the receipt must display both the co-pay and the amount charged to a third party payer (insurance company), or if the purchase is not covered by insurance, the price charged. The amendment specifies that pharmacies need not provide the third party payer information until 2005.

The substitute passed by voice vote
