2003 Senate Bill 634

Introduced in the Senate

July 16, 2003

Introduced by Sen. Dennis Olshove (D-9)

To require auto insurance companies to notify the Secretary of State if a policy expires without being renewed, is terminated, or if a policyholder cancels his or her automobile insurance policy. Under Michigan’s no-fault insurance law drivers are required to have insurance to register and operate a vehicle, but there is no system to monitor whether the insurance is cancelled after registration. See also Senate Bill 638.
