To revise the membership of the state fire fighters training council, which develops firefighter training standards and courses, certifies instructors, develops and administers certification exams, and establishes regional training centers for new fire fighters. The bill would add a council member with ties to the insurance industry. It would also revise certain training standards and duties of the council, and revise the source and distribution formula for money in the state treasury’s fire fighters training fund, including revenue from the new insurance policy assessment proposed by Senate Bill 906. Money from the fund goes to the council and to local fire departments. See also Senate Bill 907.
