2004 House Bill 5623

Introduced in the House

Feb. 26, 2004

Introduced by Rep. Steve Tobocman (D-12)

To authorize local governments to require the removal of a property use which does not conform to a zoning ordinance adopted after the existing use was already in place, once its value has been amortized. Under current law, existing uses are “grandfathered” even if they do not conform with a later zoning law. “Amortization” is not defined in the bill.
