To increase the minimum age for operating a motorboat or personal watercraft to 16. Under current law, a person aged 12 to 15 can operate a boat if he or she has a boating safety certificate issued after satisfactorily completing a state-approved course in boating safety, or while under the direct supervision of a person aged 16 or more.
