2004 House Bill 5857

Require auto insurance cancellation notice

Introduced in the House

May 5, 2004

Introduced by Rep. Steve Bieda (D-25)

To require auto insurance companies to notify the Secretary of State when a person cancels his or her auto insurance. Under Michigan’s no-fault insurance law drivers are required to have insurance to register and operate a vehicle, but there is no system to monitor whether the insurance is cancelled after registration.
