Introduced
by
To allow an individual to designate on his or her annual state income tax return that a contribution of $1 or more of his or her refund be credited to the military family relief fund proposed by House Bill 5954. This would have the effect of reducing the amount of a person’s tax refund. A person not receiving a refund could use his or her tax return to contribute to the fund. Also, to distribute 20 percent of the donations to veterans hospitals, and 80 percent to a Military Family Relief Fund.
Referred to the Committee on Veteran’s Affairs and Homeland Security
Reported without amendment
With the recommendation that the substitute (H-1) be adopted and that the bill then pass.
Substitute offered
To replace the previous version of the bill with one that distributes 20 percent of the donations to the post and posthumous funds of the Michigan soldiers’ home, rather than to veterans hospitals.
The substitute passed by voice vote
