2004 House Bill 6006

Establish natural landmark designation procedures

Introduced in the House

June 9, 2004

Introduced by Rep. Chris Kolb (D-53)

To establish a procedure by which the Natural Resources Commission or any interested person may nominate a site, structure, or object to be declared a Michigan natural landmark by the governor. The bill requires the Department of Natural Resources to collect detailed information on all such sites, to acquire any property related to a Michigan natural landmark, and to rehabilitate and maintain the landmarks. The bill would prohibit private property from being named a natural landmark without the express written consent of the property owner.
