2004 House Bill 6241

Accommodate “lift axles” in truck weight law

Introduced in the House

Sept. 29, 2004

Introduced by Rep. Edward Gaffney (R-1)

To revise the law regulating the maximum weight of trucks to accommodate trucks with “lift axles.” The bill would allow a vehicle that “lifts” an axle when making a turn to not be considered in violation of weight limits during the turn, even though the maximum weight of the axles on the ground exceeds the weight limits, as long as the axle is then lowered within a reasonable distance after completing the turn.
