2004 House Joint Resolution V

Governor appoint state Superintendent of Public Instruction

Introduced in the House

Feb. 5, 2004

Introduced by Rep. John Moolenaar (R-98)

To place before voters in the next general election a Constitutional amendment to eliminate the authority of the State Board of Education to appoint the state Superintendent of Public Instruction, and instead give that authority to the governor. There would be no fixed term, instead the superintendent would serve at the pleasure of the governor.
