2004 Senate Bill 1174

Impose physical therapist assistants licensure

Introduced in the Senate

April 28, 2004

Introduced by Sen. Burton Leland (D-5)

To require licensure and regulation of physical therapist assistants, mandate certain education requirements, provide for standards of practice and ethics for physical therapists, and create a new state fund to pay for physical therapist continuing education classes. The bill would eliminate a prohibition on a physical therapist treating a patient without a prescription from another licensed health professional, but also establish that this does not create a duty on insurers to cover this service.
