To revise the allocation of the five cents-per-foot cable right-of-way “maintenance fee” levied on telecommunications providers. The fee was created by 2002 Senate Bill 880. The bill would allow two percent of the revenue collected from the fee to be used by the state telecommunication rights-of-way oversight authority to pay its administrative expenses. Under current law 75 percent of the revenue goes to cities and 25 percent to townships.
