2004 Senate Bill 1335

Revise electric restructuring law

Introduced in the Senate

July 1, 2004

Introduced by Sen. Dennis Olshove (D-9)

To allow existing electric utilities, but not new electricity market entrants, to "securitize" the cost of acquiring equipment needed to comply with environmental, power reserve margin, and other regulations. This allows the existing companies (DTE or Consumers Power in most places), but not the new market entrants, to pass on these costs to all customers, including those who buy power from an alternative electric generating company.
