2004 Senate Bill 1452

Revise trucking service regulations

Introduced in the Senate

Oct. 6, 2004

Introduced by Sen. Jud Gilbert (R-25)

To revise the law that regulates shipping and merchandise delivery companies to establish two types of carriers: “common carrier of household goods,” and “common carrier of property general commodities." The bill would eliminate the “contract carrier of property" category, and it would also narrow the regulatory mission of the Michigan Public Service Commission with regards to this industry, eliminating various broad social and economic goals in the current law.
