Introduced in the Senate

Jan. 21, 2004

Introduced by Sen. Mike Bishop (R-12)

To recodify regulations on boxing and all other "unarmed combat" contests. The bill establishes a state Unarmed Combat Commission to oversee and enforce rules and sanctioning of contestants, promoters, and other involved parties. The bill also establishes rules, restrictions, equipment specifications, safety requirements, round length, and other regulatory frameworks regarding the contests. It would require boxing promoters to provide at least $50,000 in medical insurance for contestants. The bill would replace existing statutes related to boxing matches.
