2005 House Bill 4495

Revise charter school funding

Introduced in the House

March 15, 2005

Introduced by Rep. Andy Dillon (D-17)

To revise the formula by which per-pupil state grants are allocated to charter schools, so that grade 9-through-12 charters get 1.2 times the per-pupil grant of the local regular school district, or the state minimum per-pupil grant ($6,700 in 2005) plus $300, whichever is less. Grade K-through-8 charter schools would get .8 of the regular school per-pupil grant, or the state minimum per-pupil grant ($6,700 in 2005) plus $300, whichever is less. Note: Public school districts receive the same grant amount regardless of the grade level of their students. The minimum state grant plus $300 provision applies to charters schools under current law as well.
