To prohibit a community college from authorizing a charter school in the territory of another community college without permission from the other college, and prohibit community colleges from authorizing charter schools more than 50 miles from their main location, beginning with charter contracts issued after Aug. 1, 2005. This would repeal the “Bay Mills Community College exception” that allows this institution, which technically serves Indian students across the state, to establish an unlimited number of charters anywhere in the state (except Detroit).
